Controversy Over New School Play In Manchester
A row has broken out between a school in Manchester and local council officials. The row began when the local mainly Muslim school planned it’s adaptation of the musical “West Side Story” which they aptly renamed The ‘West Bank Story’.
The deputy head, Mohammad Mombassa said he couldn’t see what all the fuss was about. “ It’s a simple love story about a man from Israel and a woman from Palestine. “ It’s a musical that will appeal to everyone. It has tanks, warplanes and a great ending which involves several of the children dressed as suicide bombers and the ubiquitous beheading“. The problem is that the local council officials don’t understand the message we are portraying to the pupils. They have put so much effort into this and the play is the finale of a week of our jihad festival.
