Camilla To Be Put Down After Fall Palace Confirms
Prince Charles’s wife Camilla has broken her leg while hiking in Scotland a spokeswoman for Clarence House said after the accident Wednesday.
Following doctor’s advice on Thursday, Camilla, who has been grazing on the Royal family’s Balmoral country estate in Scotland, had an X-ray “which showed a twisted fracture of the fibula”.
Prince Philip said upon hearing the news. “She wasn’t the most attractive of filly in the stables nor the most liked. Ruddy shoot the old mare and be done with it. Walking around the stables looking like she owned the damned place. I would have shot her even if she hadn’t have broken one of her fetlocks.”
Charles, 61, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and heir to the British throne, married the former Camilla Parker Bowles in April 2005. His previous marriage to the late princess Diana ended in divorce in August 1996.
The 62-year-old Duchess needed to be led down from the hill after the accident which happened while she and Charles were on their traditional Easter break at Birkhall, the Prince’s private home on the Balmoral estate.
Harry Fontaine, a veterinary surgeon at Barnet Animal Hospital in north London, said “I was shocked at seeing photographs of the injuries. That was until I realised I was looking at Camilla’s face and not her leg.
The accident follows an unrelated health problem – a trapped nerve in her back. Prince Charles was concerned over her trapped nerve as he was quoted as saying “I haven’t been able to ride the filly for weeks now!”
Mohammed Al Fayed, the Harrods owner has questioned in the press if this incident was an attempt by the royal family to cause the death of yet another princess.“I want to know was her bridle straps cut? And have the police found the mysterious Shetland pony seen over taking the Princess minutes before her accident?”
