Prince Harry To Train On Apache Attack Helicopters.
Prince Harry to be let loose on helicopter simulation to give him something to do the Press Association reported today.
A quick response from his father, Prince Charles’ household was given upon the news being aired. “Prince Harry’s selection to train on the Apache attack helicopter nothing to do with who he is or in fact related to. ” announced St James’ Palace.
The move follows the successful completion of his Army pilot’s course, and he is now qualified to fly Lynx and Apache helicopters. The Ministry of Defence confirmed, however, that the Prince will definitely not be flying the Army Helicopters during any foreseeable military campaign for fear he is killed.
In conjunction with the announcement the Government have also announced that it is to create a special unit of flight simulator helicopters which will keep the Prince occupied and away from any real harm. The training we can report is said to be at Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk.
The simulators will be fully protected from ice cream stains, children’s kicks and general every day knocks. As well as the top of the range protection the simulator will also be specially designed to accept, 10p, 20p, 50p and £1.00 coins which the Prince will find helpful as his training progresses.
The 25-year-old prince, an officer with the Household Cavalry Regiment, said it was a “huge honour” to train on the Apache “I have always wanted to own a real live Native American Indian. To be able to ride round on one without getting one’s feet dirty will be amazing”.
He will receive his provisional wings from his father, the Prince of Wales, in a ceremony at the AAC’s Army Aviation Centre at Middle Wallop, Hampshire, to mark his graduation from his Army helicopter training course.
Once the training has been completed Prince Harry may be allowed to operate near the Helmand amusement arcade near Peckham high street. However this will be reviewed close to the time of his expected completion of his course.
