US Man Branded Coward After Fending Off Mountain Lion With Chainsaw
An American man who it was reported had fended off a mountain lion with a chainsaw has been suffering the angry taunts from local animal lovers. The man who along with his family were camping in Wyoming when the attack happened.
The 32-year-old Bobb Catts an ex-US marine from Colorado, said he was alone cutting firewood about 100 feet from his campsite in the Shoshone National Forest when he saw a seven-stone lion staring at him from some bushes.
Mr Catts said he raised his chainsaw and met the lion head-on as it pounced.”It batted me three or four times with its front paws and as quick as I hit it with that saw it just turned away,” he told the Associated Press.Within hours of the news breaking hundreds of animal activists started to bombard Mr Catts cell phone with angry phone calls and messages.
Nancy Hobley of the Animals For Justice campaign (AFJ), denounced Mr Catts attempts to safe himself and his family from attack by the mountain lion. “Well it is hardly a fair fight is it? An innocent mountain lion going about its everyday life subjected to a frenzied attack by a chainsaw wielding madman is shocking. This man should be shot as far as our group members are concerned. If he’d have used his hands like a real man then we wouldn’t have a problem with him but a chainsaw, what a dirty coward.”
The mountain lion concerned has openly requested a rematch and with the help of the AFJ group is being trained in the use of chainsaw, axe and Nunchakas. Mr Catts has stated that a re-match is out of the question as cannot take anymore time off work. He also wished the verbal taunts of coward would cease immediately.
