Passengers Shocked As Ryanair Flight Slips On Ice At Prestwick Airport

Ryanair jet skids off Prestwick Airport runway after hitting an ice patch.

It was a shock for the passengers of the inbound flight from Dublin, as the plane had already made a safe landing.

However, it slid into a field while it was taxiing to the airport terminal after hitting a patch of ice.
A Strathclyde Police spokesman said: “It happened just after 9am as it landed. It slipped on to the grass. No one was injured and all the passengers have been taken to the terminal.”

A passenger on the plane told the BBC: “Everyone was pretty shocked. I don’t think most people realised we were in a field. It wasn’t until we were off that we realised how deep the wheels had gone into the field.

He added: “I think the original plan was to pull the plane out of the field but, when you see it, there’s no way you’re pulling that plane out easily.”

An airport spokesman said the plane was an incoming Ryanair flight.
He said: “All I know at the moment is that after it landed it hit a patch of ice after completing its landing. As far as we are concerned the rumours that the passengers were handed a rope and told to help pull the plane from the field is unsubstantiated at this present time”

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue were called to the scene as a precaution.

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary we are informed is currently looking in to possible new taxes his company can charge its passengers. When we informed one passenger on the flight of this they replied, “Does this mean we will be charged more for the additional yards the plane travelled after it had landed?”
